At the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas, USA, where the world’s largest IT exhibition ‘CES 2025’ opened on the 8th, crowds gathered at the Kolmar Korea booth, a cosmetics contract manufacturing company, to experience ‘CAIOME’, an AI-powered skin analysis service. Making its first appearance at CES this year, Kolmar Korea showcased KYOM as their flagship product. The service checks for the presence of four types of microorganisms that affect skin health and combines this information with AI-evaluated facial skin data to recommend the most suitable cosmetics for each individual. When this reporter tried the service, it took only about 5 minutes from swabbing the face, dipping the sample in solution, checking for specific microorganisms using a kit, taking a facial photo with a tablet PC, and getting the AI analysis results. A Kolmar Korea representative at the scene explained, “By adding skin bacteria information that’s difficult to determine through photo analysis alone, we can provide more accurate analysis and recommendations.”

At this year’s CES, “personal tech” encompassing beauty and fashion has evolved to a new level. While previous technologies were often overlooked due to low accuracy and utility, this year’s technologies have become more sophisticated, incorporating microorganism and protein analysis for skin assessment and using generative AI to suggest makeup and hairstyles.

Another notable innovation was ‘iKarak’ by Korean startup Entertake, which uses AI to diagnose hair condition and adjusts individual hair dye combinations and coloring time accordingly.
